How to deal with gold (Fungu) on house walls

๐Ÿงฑ HOW TO DEAL WITH MOLD (FUNGI) ON HOUSE WALLS

Mold or fungus on the walls of the house is a problem that affects many people, especially in damp areas. This problem can ruin the appearance of the house and even reduce the durability of the plaster if it is not addressed early. Below are some explanations and effective solutions.

1️⃣ Use of Special Pesticides to Kill Mold

There are special pesticides sold in paint stores to kill mold or mildew. An example of a well-known pesticide is BDS.

How to use it:

Remove the affected plaster or part of the wall.

Clean the wall with water to remove dust and dirt.

Use a brush to apply the pesticide to the wall.

Let it dry thoroughly (usually until the next day).

After that, you can re-plaster.

These products are available at paint stores, often in 10 or 20 liter buckets.

2️⃣ Choosing the Best Type of Brick

In terms of cost and quality, fired bricks are often better than blocks.

For example:

Fired brick: approximately Tsh 200 per brick

Block: approximately Tsh 1,500 per block

As a general rule:

3500 fired bricks can build an area equivalent to

1000 blocks

Also, if the area is challenged by lime, it is advisable to use:

✔️ Fire bricks

✔️ Stone foundation (if readily available)

However, few urban craftsmen have much experience building with fired bricks, so it is important to choose a skilled craftsman.

3️⃣ Water Removal System Near the House

Standing water near the house is a major source of lime. Make sure you do these steps:

✔️ Set up a ramp around the house

You can pour concrete around the entire house

60 – 100 cm wide

✔️ Install gutters (roof drains)

Prevent rainwater from flowing directly onto the walls.

4️⃣ Waterproofing Uses

After wall repairs:

Mix wall putty with waterproofing powder before skimming.

Before painting, use a waterproof primer.

Then use exterior paint like Weather Guard.

These steps help protect the wall from moisture.

5️⃣ Cheap Solution for Areas with Sediment

For some areas, a simple and cheap solution is to use:

Minart Decor

Starting from the foundation level to the window on the exterior walls

Can be mixed with waterproofing powder

This helps reduce the possibility of walls cracking or being attacked by sediment.

6️⃣ Protecting the Foundation and Interior Walls

✔️ Use tiles on the foundation to prevent water from rising up the wall.

✔️ Areas with limescale are important to install skirting tiles.

If financial capacity is limited, you can use Fisherboard (decorative boards) as an alternative to skirting tiles.

⚠️ Remember

No matter how good the materials you use, a drainage system around the house is very important, because water is the main source of limescale on the walls.
