DETAILS ABOUT HIDDEN ROOF
๐ Details About Hidden Roof
Today I have a map in hand, and I will give a brief explanation. I have explained many times about various roof structures, but there is one important thing about Hidden Roof that I have never discussed in detail with my Home Builder partners.
In short, Hidden Roofs are divided into two main types.
1️⃣ Hidden Roof with complete sheet metal covering
The first type is the Hidden Roof with a more complex structure.
In this system:
The sheet metal is not visible from the outside
The roof is surrounded by walls on all sides
There are often drainage pipes (drain pipes)
The upper part can be poured with concrete to direct water to a specific area
Because of all these preparations:
It requires high-quality waterproofing
It requires very careful craftsmanship
It has a high construction cost
And the truth is that this type is the one that is most complained about leaking water during the rain if the work is not done with great skill.
If you have a careless technician in the preparation of this roof, there is a high possibility that the house will start to leak water after a while.
2️⃣ Hidden Roof that drains water on one side
The second type is what I am describing today.
This is the simplest Hidden Roof, which:
Its roof drains water on one side
The roof is not visible on three sides of the house
But it is visible on the back
Usually:
In front of the house
On the left side
On the right side
The roof is not visible at all, because it is surrounded by a high wall.
But when you get to the back of the house, you will see the side where the water is draining.
Why is this system good?
In my experience of more than 20 years in the construction industry, this type of Hidden Roof has many advantages:
✔ It does not have many construction complications
✔ Its costs are low compared to a fully covered Hidden Roof
✔ The risk of water leakage is very low
✔ It is easy to make a slope to drain water
In short, it is one of the best Hidden Roof systems for residential homes.
The appearance of the house and its use
Common in house planning:
The front part is the one that carries the appearance (show-off) of the house
That is where most visitors see the house
But the back part is often used for family activities such as:
washing clothes
drying clothes
normal household activities
So it is not necessary for the back part to have a lot of decorations.
That is why this Hidden Roof system that sheds behind is a very good solution for modern houses.
How this roof is built
Technically:
The upper wall is built right after the belt (ring beam / linta)
The difference comes when making the kenchi
That is where the roof slope is made through the king post
The length of the slope depends on:
the size of the house
the width of the roof
The main goal is to ensure that water drains quickly and does not sit on the roof.
Conclusion
From my experience in the construction industry, if you want:
a beautiful house
a house with a modern look
a house that is not expensive
and a roof that does not cause problems with water leakage
then the Hidden Roof that pours on one side is a very good choice.
It is a simple, cost-effective, and long-lasting design when done by an experienced craftsman.
